Medieval Banquet SketchUp Model & Lumion Render
Art Direction Midterm, October 2022
My first third year digital design project was a medieval banquet set for Eve's art direction class. UNCSA tends to create contemporary films, so this project was intended to widen the scope of my class' portfolio. As a huge Game of Thrones fan, this project was right up my alley. Over the course of the first quarter, I learned some medieval history, architecture, developed a lookbook, and created a SketchUp model with weekly critiques from Eve. I built the digital set myself, while most of the decor came from SketchUp's 3D Warehouse. I was extremely happy with how this project turned out. I ended up using a few VFX classes by Bob Keen, who did SFX on Hellraiser (1987) and Star Wars: Episodes 4 & 6 (1977 and 1983), to render the 3D model in Lumion. I included it in my portfolio for my internship submission to the Television Academy Foundation, and it's one of my favorite entries to date.

Original Lookbook
September 2022
This is my original lookbook for the project. I had settled on basing my set after Stokesay Castle in Shropshire, England. While the aesthetics were kept mostly the same, some aspects I had originally planned would no longer work as I began to fill the set. Eve was always realistic and reminded us about the importance of having enough space for camera, grip, and fellow departments.
